What is the body language of Equus?

Equus, the body language of horses, is a main source of communication between horses. As well as using the parts of their body to share how they are feeling, horses also use their body placement and positioning to communicate with each other. In the wild, horses use Equus continuously and reserve verbal communication for more intense situations. This is thought to be the case in order to prevent verbal communication from alerting their predators to the where about of the herd.

While human bodies differ greatly from that of the horse we can still learn how to use our body placement, body language and how we carry ourselves to communicate with our horses. The horses are already listening to our body; it’s a matter of learning how to use our body language and placement clearly and effectively.
