HORSES 101 with Jodine Carruthers and Selena Pellizzari

Have you ever been curious about what a horse is thinking or why it’s behaving the way it is?

Have you ever thought “If only horses could talk”?

If you’re yearning for a deeper connection with horses—or your child who loves them—but haven’t know how to go about it look no further. Horses 101 is a four part series for horse lovers—or their parents—who are searching for a greater understanding of groundwork, horse behaviour and how it applies to riding and horse handling. Jodine Carruthers and Selena Pellizzari will be sharing their expertise through a mixture of theory, demonstration and hands on horse sessions. Throughout the four weeks you will be introduced to:

  • Horse Psychology and Horse Behaviour, including signs to look for in every day interactions such as catching and grooming a horse.
  • The Body Language of Horses, how you can understand it and how you can speak it…starting right away.
  • Groundwork and Leadership, how to safely establish boundaries and create confidence while leading and tacking up.
  • Riding with Understanding, this is your chance to get on—even if you’re not a rider—and explore how to take all the previous lessons from the ground into the saddle.

Horses 101 is for anyone who is seeking a better understanding of horses. Previous horse experience is not necessary.  Class size will be limited to eight participants.

Where: GP Cottonwood Stables                                              Cost: $200 includes four classes.
